A pastor of a yet-to-be-identified church, Elijah Emeka Ibeabuchi, a native of Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been accused of fatally stabbing his wife, Ogechukwu Okafor.

An uncle of the deceased, Samuel Onuorah, who made this allegation, claimed that the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, and has been reported to the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare.

Governor, Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo

Findings by Kristina Reports indicate that the deceased hails from Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

There are concerns about irregularities in the account of the suspected husband as to what happened between him and his wife and claims of threats from him.

Onuorah recounted receiving a call from Ibeabuchi claiming that Ogechukwu had fallen from a four-story building and died, revealing, however, that emerging evidence suggests the young woman had not fallen but had been brutally murdered.

Medical examinations revealed multiple stab wounds to her neck and chest allegedly inflicted by Ibeabuchi, confirming the family’s suspicions after visiting the mortuary where Ibeabuchi had deposited Ogechukwu’s body, adding that the family observed clear signs indicating she had not fallen.

He further alleged that Ibeabuchi was attempting to use their newborn baby for ritualistic purposes, explaining that the family discovered that it was during a violent struggle over the child, that he allegedly stabbed Ogechukwu and also inflicted wounds on her hand.

He stated that the family is calling on the Anambra State Government to intervene and ensure justice for their beloved daughter.

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Anambra State, Ify Obinabo

Reacting to the development, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo acknowledged that the family of the deceased had lodged a complaint against Ibeabuchi, appealing to stakeholders, women groups, human rights activists, and social media users to join the government in securing justice for Ogechukwu.

Urging people to raise their voices in this matter, the Commissioner assured that she would inform the Governor’s wife, who she believes will personally advocate for justice for the deceased.
