Okrika Community Ruptured Pipeline Fixed, Leakage Sealed by Owners, NNPCL – NSCDC

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the rupture of a pipeline and leakage therefrom of a petroleum product in Obianime-Ama in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Kristina Reports had reported the incident which occurred on Sunday, March 23, 2025, sending shivers down the spine of residents of the Community.

The NSCDC, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer in Rivers State, Ihemnacho Umeado, said operatives from its Okrika Division responded to the situation by embarking on an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.

It further informed that there was actually a rupture on the pipeline, stating that this led to an outflow of petroleum product, but added the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPCL had sealed the leakage.

“It has been confirmed that there was a ruptured pipe which led to an outflow of petroleum product from it. However, officials from the NNPCL have moved to site to block the leakage.”

It said that hydrants were sprayed on the affected area to avoid further combustion.

According to the statement, the situation has been handled, while residents o the community promised to be vigilant and alert on any probable reoccurrence or vandalism of any sort.
