“We have not really had sufficient water because we don’t have enough borehole. The one we’re using was given to us by our former councillor.”

Isaac harped on the fact that the lighting situation also makes it very difficult and the cost of petrol is high and nobody’s ready to bear the burnt.

“For over 6months we’ve not had steady light and when the light goes off, we find it difficult to get water. We’ve made several appeals to the local government but nothing has been done yet.

In another interview session with Kristina Reports, Secretary of the Community Development Committee, Sunday Ogan confirmed that there is no ongoing borehole project in the community, asserting that the community has only one borehole which is not enough.

Ogan, who is a small-scale business owner, also lamented on some other aspects of underdevelopment in the community ranging from poor water supply, bad road and unemployment.

“We have been suffering for some time now, we don’t have water, we don’t even have good road.”

“Unemployment is on the rise, what we use to survive is fishing, our young people just take up menial jobs just to earn a living. We have tried and we’re still pleading that the relevant authorities come to our aid.”
