A concerned youth from Nonwa community in Tai Local Government Area, Rivers State, Elisha Mgbon, has raised alarm over the continued abandonment of key infrastructural projects in the area, calling on community leaders and government partners to take immediate action.
Mgbon is urging youths and other residents of Nonwa to collectively demand accountability from the community’s leadership, including the Paramount Ruler, Emmanuel Nyiedam; the youth Leader, Batani Tambari; the CDC Chairman, Don Wilson Nwibari and all relevant government and development agencies.

“This is not just about pointing fingers, it’s about holding leadership accountable and ensuring that Nonwa does not continue to suffer from the effects of neglect. The time for action is now.”
Among the projects he listed are the uncompleted building and rehabilitation of the Model Primary School initiated during the tenure of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, the abandoned Cottage Hospital started under former Governor Nyesom Wike, the non-installation of a transformer donated by the Mbakpone-led Tai Caretaker Committee, and the stalled construction and rehabilitation of a water project by HYPREP.

According to Mgbon, the silence and inaction around these projects are unacceptable, especially as they are critical to the well-being and development of the community.

He is calling for immediate engagement between the community leadership and residents to explain the reasons behind the delay or abandonment and to chart a course of action forward.
The call has sparked discussions among community members, many of whom believe that transparency, dialogue, and collaboration are essential in pushing for the completion of these long-awaited projects.
