NLNG Confirms Death of Two Individuals in Bonny Plant Incident
The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) has confirmed the death of two individuals following an incident during a routine pipeline cleaning operation at its gas liquefaction plant in Bonny, Rivers State.
This confirmation was conveyed via a statement by its General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Sophia Horsfall, on Monday, March 16, 2026, which was exclusively made available to Kristina Reports in Bonny.

The company said the incident, which Kristina Reports learnt occurred within its plant area between 3:30pm and 4:00pm on Monday, March 16, 2026, involved a manhole during the cleaning activity.
The statement also noted that while two fatalities were recorded, other personnel involved in the operation have been accounted for.
NLNG said it immediately activated its emergency response protocols after the incident, adding that all potential risks to personnel, the environment, and the host community have been effectively eliminated.
The company also disclosed that it has notified relevant authorities and stakeholders and is working closely with them to carry out preliminary investigations to determine the immediate and remote causes of the incident.
