The life and times of a community patriot and leader, Late Kalada Dick Tolofari has been described as an embodiment of service by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), with a call on all and sundry to emulate the virtues exuded by the trailblazer while living on earth.

General Secretary of the NIPR Rivers State Chapter, Akiyata Anyanwu made this call when she led a delegation of the institute to a funeral service in honour of the late Kalada Dick Tolofari on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Kalaibiama in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Speaking on behalf of the body of Public Relations practitioners in Rivers State, Anyanwu said it was sad that the world would lose a man who had served his community in various capacities, especially, as the Chairman of the Prince Oru-Asawo Dick Tolofari Chieftaincy House of Bonny Kingdom meritoriously, at a time when the conversations of peace building were mostly needed from his likes.

Akiyata said the loss was a big blow to the Institute in particular given that the deceased was the father of a ranking member of NIPR, Boma Dick Tolofari, who is deserving of all the support in her moment of grief.

Describing the impact of her father’s death, Chief Mourner of the departed, Boma Dick Tolofari said her father had left a huge vacuum too difficult to fill in the family and community levels.

She noted that it was the confidence reposed in him by the ancient Kingdom of Grand Bonny that influenced his involvement in Palace matters, especially, when he was called upon by the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom to make a speech at the farewell session of the Bonny Chiefs Council in honor of late Chief Dr Owen Gogo Banigo in 2009.

She said although the family was inundated by condolence gestures from his former colleagues at the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) where he served meritoriously for 35 years and retired, as well as from other unions, associations, groups and individuals he identified with while living; they were consoled by the culture of trust in God he bequeathed to them, hoping he was with his maker at the time.
