In furtherance of its efforts at deepening civil-military relations in its various theaters of operation, the Nigerian Army has donated palliatives to widows and other less privileged individuals at Ebubu Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Speaking at the presentation of the donated items to the beneficiaries recently, commanding officer of the 29 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Ishaya Manga said it was in line with the strategic guidance of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
Beneficiaries of the donations include some Widows in Ebubu Community and Love Crucified Charity Home in Aleto Community, both in Eleme LGA of the State.
Lt. Col. Manga said the distribution of the palliatives was part of activities lined up for the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt in 2023, explaining that it is geared towards improving relations between the civilian populace and the Nigerian military.
Also benefitting from the donations were students of Community Secondary School, Ebubu Community, who got over 10,000 exercise books.
The 29 Battalion Commanding Officer advised the students to shun all forms of cultism and the use of illicit drugs as leaders of tomorrow.
Responding to the donations, Paramount Ruler of Ebubu Community in Eleme LGA, His Royal Highness, Emere King Goya Chinwi commended the Nigerian Army for making Eleme a peaceful place all these years.
He expressed his appreciation for the donations made to his people, assuring that his community will continue to partner with the military in reducing crime.
Some of the beneficiaries, who received bags of rice, cartons of Indomie noodles, palm oil, tissue paper, and exercise books, amongst others, commended the Nigerian Army for the gesture.
