Ngo Monarch Pays Condolence Visit to Opobo Over King Jaja V’s Passing

His Majesty, Matthew Jonah Ogwuokwa Ibotile, NNABIGET XV, Okaan-Ama Ngo of Ngo Kingdom, has led a delegation on a condolence visit to the Opobo Kingdom following the death of its monarch, Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jeki V, Amanyanabo of Opobo.

During the visit, the Ngo monarch and his entourage were received by the Opobo Council of Alapu and the Amanyanabo-elect, King Charles D. Ma people Jaja, as they expressed their sympathies over the loss.

Speaking during the visit, King Ibotile described the late King Jaja V as a revered traditional ruler whose contributions to leadership and service, including his role in the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, would not be forgotten.

“This visit has given us the opportunity to console our brothers in Opobo and also to reaffirm the long-standing relationship between our kingdoms,” he said.

He further noted that the Ngo Kingdom remains committed to sustaining the legacy of the late monarch, particularly in efforts aimed at promoting peace, unity, and development in Rivers State and the wider Niger Delta region.

In response, the Amanyanabo-elect and the Council of Alapu expressed appreciation to the Ngo Kingdom for the visit and show of solidarity during the period of mourning.

They also extended a formal invitation to the Ngo Council of Chiefs to attend the final burial rites of the late king.

The visit underscored the enduring ties between the two riverine kingdoms and their shared commitment to preserving tradition and fostering regional unity.
