Everything is not alright for those Asoebi freaks as the traditional ruler of Umunede Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Dr Ezeagwu Ezenwali I has banned the sewing and wearing of “Asoebi” clothes for burial ceremonies in Umunede.
He made the pronouncement recently at his palace in Umunede, stressing that many of his subjects have prematurely lost their lives because of the numerous debts they incurred through the selling and sewing of burial cloths (Asoebi).
The monarch therefore warned and urged all, to strictly adhere to the edict, as anyone who refuses to obey the order will be severely punished
He however, noted that the well-known traditional white cloth is recommended for any burial event, urging them to hold onto the edict. Asked if Asoebi for marriage and wedding are also banned, Dr. Ezenwali said that it is recommended and acceptable for wedding and marriage events
Similarly, the royal father stated that many married women in his kingdom have now imbibed the attitude of calling their church pastors “daddy” rather than their husbands. He stressed that many of the women respect their pastors more than their husbands, describing it as unpleasant and unacceptable.
While condemning the act, the traditional ruler said, “I don’t want to see any woman along the Palace Road once it is 3am to 4am. They should remain with their husbands and children at home.”
“A responsible woman stays at home with her family. All these women searching for miracle should stay indoors and take care of their husbands and children,” he declared.
