Mob Apprehends Alleged Thief At Tonimas Junction
A group of angry mob on the morning Tuesday, November 4, 2025, apprehended a man who was allegedly caught stealing a phone from a woman.
The incident which took place today at the very busy Tonimas Junction, Aba, had sparked lots of reactions from passers by. The culprit, whose name is unknown, was sighted taking out a smart phone from the purse of a young woman who was trying to get along her day.

On noticing her phone was being taken out her purse, she raised alarm that led to the pursuit of the man till he was caught and dragged back to the spot where it all began.
Items recovered from him were a purse containing the smartphone and cash belonging to the victim, and several other phones which are suspected to be that of other victims.
The unidentified man was beaten beyond recognition and was almost lynched but stopped by the World Bank Vigilante. The Commander of the Vigilante, Nwosu Abel said the incident is a sad one but commended the people for stepping in to ensure the victim recovers her belongings.
While addressing the group who had gathered, he said there is no need for jungle justice. He assured the public that the suspect will be handed over to the World Bank Police Division for further follow up on the matter.
“I thank you all for stepping in. We say a persons neighbor is his brother. You have proven to care for this young woman by getting her things back.
We do not encourage you to take matters into your hands. You can report any matter to the Vigilante or even the police at World Bank. Taking law matters into your hands does not make you a saint.
I assure you that this man will be taken to the police station from here. We have done our part here and the rest will be handled by the Police where he will face the law.”
