In what promises to be a historic moment for radio in Nigeria, veteran broadcaster, George Iniabasi Essien, popularly known as Mighty George, is set to attempt a new Guinness World Record for the longest talk show marathon.

The 100-hour radio challenge will take place live on Comfort 95.1 FM from April 27 to May 1, 2025.

With 20 years of experience behind the microphone, George is not new to long hours, but this attempt takes his passion for radio to a whole new level.

The talk show marathon, expected to run round-the-clock for five days, will feature a mix of engaging conversations, interviews, music commentary, and community-focused discussions all powered by the unmistakable voice of Mighty George.

George explained that the reason behind this bold move goes beyond personal achievement.

“I’m doing this to celebrate my 20th year in radio, but more importantly, to inspire young broadcasters who are passionate about Media.”

“I want them to see that this is a very exciting profession. I am also doing this to show the can-do (Arise) spirit of Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians.”

Over the years, George has become one of the most respected voices in southern Nigeria.

From music to politics, everyday stories to community advocacy, his programs have consistently drawn a wide audience and earned him a loyal following.

This Guinness World Record attempt is expected to attract not only listeners from across the country but also support from colleagues in the media industry, radio lovers, and members of the public who appreciate his contribution to broadcasting.

Organizers at Comfort FM say they are fully prepared to support George through the marathon, with plans already in place to meet all technical and health requirements set by the Guinness World Records team.

Volunteers, timekeepers and other personnel will be on standby to ensure the entire process is documented accurately and safely.
