Lockdown Day 10: Man Dies After 43 Days Dry Fasting

A man in his mid-thirties has reportedly died today after allegedly undergoing a 43 day dry fasting.

The death, which tool place this afternoon in Akiama Community in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, brings the number of deaths in Bonny Island in the last 10 days to four after three women reportedly died last week.

Bonny LGA has been on lockdown imposed by the State Governor, Nyesom Wike since on Sunday, June 21, 2020.

The deceased who was simply identified as Victor, whose neighbours say hails from Akwa Ibom State, was reportedly a pastor in an unnamed church in the area.

Eyewitnesses told Kristina Reports that the late Victor, a bachelor who lives alone in the Ghana Woman area of Akiama Community, only opened the door to his one room apartment after locking up himself for the period of his fasting.      

According to an eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, when he opened the door, he was looking very emaciated and dehydrated and when his neighbours rushed to ask what happened to him he collapsed and gave up the ghost.

The sourced said the death of the young man, popularly called “man of God” in the neighbourhood, was a touching one as he was said to be very affable with his neighbours in the area.
