LG Retirees Smile as Akwa Ibom Government Releases N500m to Settle Gratuity

The Akwa Ibom State Government has released the sum of N500million for the settlement of outstanding gratuities of retired local government staff of the Unified Local Government Service.

Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission, Monday Eyo disclosed this in a press release he personally signed and made available to Kristina Reports in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Applauding the State Governor, Umo Eno, for his magnanimity in the timely release of funds to retirees, Eyo noted that the released funds will bring succour and respite to retirees of the 31 LGAs, who, according to him, had been longing for the funds which will ameliorate their hardship in times like this.

“The release of funds is in fulfilment of the ARISE Agenda of the governor for the betterment of Retirees of Unified Local Government Service.”

Kristina Reports gathered that, so far, the government of Umo Eno has paid priority attention to the welfare of the retirees and the working class with regular payment of salary and pension as well as timely release of funds to settle outstanding gratuity.

Over N7.3b has been released by the nine-months old administration of Umo Eno in Akwa Ibom State for the settlement of inherited debt burden owed retired civil servants in the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ekerete Udoh affirmed that this action underscores the Governor’s dedication to honouring his commitments to the workforce.

“Governor Eno’s leadership showcases a compassionate approach to addressing the needs of the people, reaffirming the Governor’s people-centric governance.”
