The life and times of the late doyen of Journalism and Media Practice and celebrated On-Air-Personality (OAP), Dafini Gogo-Abbey, has been described as a “fulfilled life” and one that was “replete with impact on all fronts”. So, was late Pastor Iwowari Hector Pepple described as “an embodiment of goodness”.    

These eulogies were rendered on a day of harrowing sobriety, emotions and nostalgia by the Publisher of Kristina Reports, Godswill Jumbo, when he led Management and staff of the organization to condole with the families of the deceased duo in their family residences in Port Harcourt.

Dafini was the immediate past General Manager of the Rivers State Television (RSTV), while Pepple was the father of the Chairman of Kristina Reports’ Editorial Board, Dr Ibituru Pepple, and the day of the condolence visits was Wednesday, June 30, 2021.

To Dr Pepple and family, Jumbo said the visit was necessary because of the life-long burden bearing disposition of the deceased who stops at nothing in giving helping hands to those in need, a gesture that has seen to the emergence of various captains of industries across the family lines.

He said “beyond the good deeds of your father, you as a person have been with us at Kristina Reports providing industry and academic guidance to ensure professionalism at all times, even with little or nothing as payback. Such sacrificial and diligent approach to life must have been bequeathed by your dear father who has today gone to be with the Lord.”

“As an organisation we condole with you and promise to stand by your side in this defining moment of your life.”

Responding, Dr Pepple thanked Kristina Reports for the practical love displayed through the condolence visit, assuring to keep the news medium up to speed with the burial plans of his father.

Similarly, the Kristina Reports team while with the family of Dafini Gogo Abbey took turns to explain various encounters with the accomplished broadcaster, noting that her impact in the Media ecology had direct bearing with Kristina Reports.

Kristina Reports’ Publisher, Godswill Jumbo pointed out that the death is a loss to the Media, “especially at this time when there are attempts to gag the Press, the powers that be, may easily listen to big players like Abbey if they speak up, which explains why it is agonizingly difficult to come in terms with her demise.”

He seized the opportunity to equally condole with the Rivers State Government and the staffers of RSTV who are equally affected by this loss, calling on everyone to cheer up given that the late RSTV Boss lived a fulfilled life and did well in grooming her likes across the country that can stand in the gap of her absence.

For her part, first daughter of the late General Manager of RSTV, Ijeoma Tubosia thanked the medium for considering it necessary to identify with the family at this critical point in time, explaining that she had been receiving various groups since the sad news broke which gives a glimpse of the level of impact her mother must have created while on earth.

She promised to extend the kind gesture of Kristina Reports to the extended family in due course.
