KAGOTE Begins LGA Tour to Submit Education Reform Report in Ogoniland
A socio-cultural group in Ogoniland, KAGOTE, has commenced the presentation of its Education Intervention Report across the four local government areas in the region.
The group, representing Khana, Gokana, Tai, and Eleme LGAs, began the tour on April 15, 2026, with a visit to Khana Local Government Area, where members of its Education Intervention Committee submitted their report to the council chairman, Thomas Bariere, at his residence in Baen Community.

Led by committee chairman Bodo Edoo, the delegation presented findings focused on the state of primary education in Ogoniland. The report highlighted key challenges affecting the sector, including infrastructure gaps, quality of teaching, and access to education, while also outlining opportunities for reforms.
According to the committee, the assessment forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the education system and improve learning outcomes across communities in the region.

Responding, Bariere commended the committee for its work and expressed readiness to support the implementation of its recommendations. He described education as critical to the long-term development of Ogoniland.
He also nominated his Chief of Staff, Daniel Dorka, to serve as the local government’s representative on the committee, a move aimed at enhancing collaboration and ensuring effective implementation of the proposed reforms.

The presentation in Khana marks the first phase of KAGOTE’s planned engagements with other local government areas in Ogoniland.
