A lawmaker in Rivers State, Nigeria, Solomon Pollyn has declared that his focus remains how to empower his constituents through human capital development and job creation and poverty reduction.
Pollyn, who represents Ward 12 in the Bonny Legislative Assembly, made this declaration at the flag-off of a One Month Skills Acquisition Programme for members of his constituency at Kalaibiama in Bonny Local Government Area of the State.
The spokesman of the 8th Bonny Local Government Legislative Assembly said the training programme aims at building the capacity of the beneficiaries to be able to fend for themselves and also participate in the forthcoming Train 7 Project of the Nigeria LNG in Bonny.
“This is a way to positively empower my people to acquire relevant skills through human capacity development as an essential requirement, especially, as the NLNG Train 7 begins, and also for the future.”
The Nigeria LNG’s train 7 project is expected to provide over 10,000 jobs when it commences as well as support massive capacity building in engineering and fabrication and expand the scope of economic opportunities for Nigerians, especially, its host communities.
Apparently, Hon. Solomon Pollyn is taking the initiative to prepare his people ahead to take advantage of these imminent opportunities to achieve economic self-reliance and improved technical knowhow for his constituents.
“This is my own way to support my people and it is geared towards creating employment and reducing poverty.”
Some beneficiaries of the skills acquisition programme told Kristina Reports that they were grateful to the Councillor for his vision and positive impact in their lives, assuring him of their resolve to take full advantage of the programme to better their lives.
