The ruling All Progressives Party (APC) is set to implode except urgent measures were taken to halt the drift in the party across the country.
The latest, Kristina Reports has learnt is the spat between the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and his deputy, Lawali Shuaibu over the recent losses the party has witnessed in recent times, the latest being Zamfara State, home state of the First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
Shuaibu on Monday, May 27, 2019 wrote to Oshiomhole asking the latter to resign as his position as National Chairman of the party.
In the six page letter, the Deputy National Chairman cited the party’s loss of Zamfara State to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pointing out that in advanced democracies, people who fail to add value or build over and above what they met on assumption of duty show some civilised examples, “they honourably resign.”
The letter titled “APC: Its Fortune and Misfortune, Time to Act!” also said “It is my honest opinion that your ability to ensure this party flourishes is deficient as you lack the necessary composure and you also don’t possess the capabilities and the requisite experience to run a political party”.
The ruling party had, in recent times witnessed a rollercoaster ride of losses to the opposition. It lost Imo, Ogun, Benue, Rivers, among others to the PDP in the last election bringing the number of States held by the opposition to 17 as against 23 when Oshiomhole assumed office as National Chairman.
