Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, David Irimagha says the donation of gunboats to the security agencies to beef up security on the Bonny-Port Harcourt sea route is a demonstration of Governor Nyesom WIke’s love for the people of Bonny LGA.
According to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Williams Agwu, the Bonny LG boss hailed the decision of the Governor to intervention in ameliorating the suffering of the travelers utilizing the sea route.
Irimagha had accompanied the State Commissioner for Local Governments, Rodaford Longjohn, the lawmaker representing Bonny constituency in the State House of Assembly, Abinye Pepple, amongst other government functionaries to inspect the gunboats at the NNS Pathfinder base in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, April 10, 2019.
“It is noteworthy that our amiable Governor intervened to checkmate the needless challenges faced by our people in the hands of daredevil sea pirates on the Bonny River. He has shown that he loves the people of Bonny LGA and their security matters to him and to the State Government,” he explained.
The LG Chair thanked the State Chief Executive for his kind gesture, noting that the gesture was borne out of genuine love for the people.
He called on the security agencies to utilize the gunboats judiciously to ensure the sea route was safe for travelers, especially as the train 7 project was about to commence that will see increased traffic in and out of the island.
Irimagha, who was a former Leader of the Bonny Legislative Assembly, appealed to the people of the area to support the Wike led administration in the State in order to ensure the actualization of the Governor’s vision of developing the area.
