In a significant display of grassroots solidarity, the Leader of the Ahoada-East Legislative Assembly, ThankGod Bernard, alongside seven other councillors, have pledged their unwavering support for Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
The Councillors, representing eight wards in the 13-ward LGA, expressed their commitment to mobilize their supporters in backing the Governor’s policies and initiatives.
According to a press release by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the Councillors, who were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and serving as key leaders of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), decided to align with the SIMplified Movement.
During a crucial meeting convened by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Edison Ehie, PhD, the Councillors affirmed their allegiance to Governor Fubara, emphasizing the need to ensure that their communities benefit from the wind of change sweeping across the State.
Addressing concerns regarding party leadership, the Councillors reiterated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara, as the incumbent Governor, holds the mantle of leadership within the PDP and the State at large.
They further asserted that their voluntary alignment with the SIMplified Movement reflects a belief in equitable participation in socio-economic and socio-political endeavours, free from intimidation and coercion.
In response, Dr Edison Ehie, himself a native of Ahoada-East LGA, lauded the Councillors’ resolve, assuring them of Governor Fubara’s commitment to inclusivity and delivering on his campaign promises.
The Councillors, including ThankGod Bernard, Beatrice Abraham, Bright Uwandu, Princewill Aguiyi, Livingstone Alali, Bob Ololube, and Edi Chituru, collectively affirmed their dedication to advancing the SIMplified Movement’s agenda for the betterment of Rivers State.
With grassroots leaders pledging their support, Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration appears poised to harness the collective efforts of communities across the state, ushering in a new era of development and progress for all residents
