Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has appointed two media connoisseurs, Chief Ernest Chinwo and Kelvin Ebiri, to manage two critical aspects of the State information architecture, the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) and Government House, Port Harcourt.
Chief Ernest Chinwo, who is currently the State Bureau Chief of Thisday Newspapers, is now the General Manager, RSNC, also known as Tide Newspapers; while the South-South Bureau Chief of the Guardian Newspapers, Kelvin Ebiri is now the Special Assistant on Media to the Governor.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced late Tuesday, October 20, 2020 by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim.
Chief Ernest Chinwo, who is also the Nye-Nweli (Traditional Ruler) Woji in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State, is an alumni of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
On his part, Kelvin Ebiri, who hails from Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), is an alumni of the University of Port Harcourt, Choba.
Both media practitioners are members of the Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Close watchers of the administration view this development as geared towards reinforcing the Governor’s drive to bolster the image of the State Government in the Media space and close the obvious gaps created by the demise of his erstwhile Media aide, Simeon Nwakaudu.
