Governor Fubara, Mayor of Housing, Marine Experts, Others Storm EMR 2024 Seminar, Award Event in Port Harcourt

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Mayor of Housing, My-ACE China, and National Chairman of Nigeria Institute of Marine Engineers and Naval Architects (NIMENA), Daniel Tamunodukobipi, among other dignitaries are expected to grace the 2024 Seminar of the Energy and Maritime Reporters (EMR) of Nigeria.

The annual event, which is billed to hold on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, will also have the State Commissioner for Environment, Sydney Gbara, as one of the Special Guests of Honour.

The seminar, which is being sponsored by Emi Membere-Otaji Foundation, will feature interventions from industry leaders special address on Real Estate and Urban Development, and Awards for outstanding contributions in the Energy and Maritime space by individuals and organizations.

The Energy and Maritime Reporters (EMR) of Nigeria is a conglomeration of beat reporters covering the Energy and Maritime sector within the Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The Seminar, which holds annually, and is designed to enhance the skills of journalists covering the Energy and Maritime Sector, especially, in the Niger Delta region, will take place at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre (NUJ Secretariat) along Moscow Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Managing Director of Charkin Maritime & Offshore Safety Centre, Port Harcourt, Charles Wami is expected to lead the Seminar, which theme is; “Understanding the Maritime Subsector and Issues in the Coastal States”, with a focus on the subtheme, “Maritime Safety Concerns and Approaches”.

Elshcon Nigeria Limited, owned by the Deputy National President of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Alabo Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji, is expected to receive the Maritime Company of the Year Award.

The Seminar aims to provide in-depth training for Maritime Reporters, covering critical issues in the coastal states and safety concerns within the Maritime subsector.

The event will also honour excellence in Maritime Journalism, with the Best Maritime Reporters Awards presented to outstanding Reporters.

The event seeks to bridge the gap in Maritime reporting between the coastal Niger Delta areas and Lagos, equipping reporters with the tools and expertise to advance the region’s maritime coverage, as well as honour excellence in Maritime Journalism.
