In response to the current agitations in the country among youths on the level of insensitivity of government which was amplified by the #EndSARS protests, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, on Saturday disclosed that the Federal Government has earmarked a N25 billion youth fund to address the rising unemployment among the youths, and other related matters in the country.
The fund, according to her aims to support the youths to actualise their entrepreneurial ideas as well as job opportunities.
The minister made this known in Kaduna State at a stakeholders’ meeting with the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Hadiza Balarabe.
She explained that the meeting was in line with the directive of President Muhammad Buhari to ministers and governors to dialogue with concerned stakeholders and the youths in addressing their agitations.
According to her, the youth fund would be increased to N75 billion within a period of three years.
Also, Balarabe explained that the purpose of the meeting was to come up with ideas to tackle the insecurity challenges occasioned by the #EndSARS protests.
