Following the appointment of another batch of Commissioners into the Rivers State executive council by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the absence of an Eleme indigene among the appointees, Indigenes of Eleme Local Government Area are appealing to Governor Fubara for representation in the state executive council.
The indigenes who spoke under the auspices of the Jonathan Olaka Movement believes that the appointment of a commissioner from Eleme ethnic nationality will foster inclusivity considering the massive support the Fubara led administration has received from Eleme LGA especially during the 2023 general elections.
Leader, Jonathan Olaka Movement, Hon. Fred Onungwe
They observed that the omission of Eleme LGA in the state executive council is glaring considering the strategic importance of Eleme in the Rivers State political landscape.
Leader of the group, Fred Onungwe, in a press release made available to Kristina Reports, appealed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to address this imbalance through the appointment of Eleme sons and daughters into his administration,
“The Jonathan Olaka Movement urge Governor Fubara to use his good office to address this imbalance by appointing qualified sons and daughters of Eleme into positions of trust within his administration. This would not only be a fitting reward for their support but also a recognition of Elemes’ political significance….”
“In essence, the Jonathan Olaka Movement is seeking inclusivity and representation for Eleme ethnic nationality in Governor Fubara’s administration…this will foster a sense of belonging and enhance the overall development of Rivers State….”
Whilst reassuring Governor Fubara of their continued support for his administration, and acknowledging his administrations efforts in the state, they enjoined all Eleme sons and daughters to rally round Governor Siminalayi Fubara to ensure collective progress.
Checks by Kristina Reports revealed that since the resignation of the erstwhile commissioner for finance, Isaac Kamalu, no indigene of Eleme LGA has been reappointed into the state executive council.
