Stakeholders in Ebubu Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State are appealing to the Siminalayi Fubara led Rivers State Government to reconstruct the already dilapidated model primary health centre in Ebubu.

The model primary health centre built and commissioned by the Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi administration in 2010 was deserted during the cult crisis that engulfed the community within 2010 to 2018.

Having been abandoned, the facility was, therefore, exposed to hoodlums who looted and vandalized the facility.

In an interview with Kristina Reports in his Palace at Egbalor-Ebubu, the Paramount Ruler of Ebubu Community, His Royal Highness, Chief Godwin Chinwi, One-Eh Odido XIV, lamented the condition of the abandoned facility.

He stated that it was possible for hoodlums to loot the facility because it was built in an isolated area, appealing to the State Government to intervene and refurbish the facility.

“The community health centre built by the administration of the former governor, Rotimi Amaechi was among many other health centres that were built all over the state.”

“Mistakenly, it was built in an isolated area and during the cult crisis of 2012 to 2018 which was witnessed in nearly all communities of the riverine area, ours was vandalized and looted by criminals from the trailer park area and some bad boys from Ebubu Community….”

“It will interest Ebubu Community if the government can revisit the place, and we will show a new place closer to the community secondary school where a new health centre will be built….”

On his part, Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Ebubu Community, Prince Meshack Nein said that after the health centre was vandalized by hoodlums during the cult crisis, saveral appeals were made to those in the private sector and even non-governmental organizations.

He stated that though these appeal requesting the rebuilding of the health centre were attended to, he is, however, optimistic that the Governor Fubara led administration will rebuild it.

Checks by Kristina Reports revealed that women in the community who want to immunize their children go to one of the community town halls in Obolo to be attended to.
