A traditional ruler in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Precious Dike has called on Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman, and heads of other security agencies to checkmate incidences of kidnap and maiming of innocent citizens in the area.

Eze Dike, who is the Youth Traditional Prime Minister and the Ochimba-Elect of Akwukabi in Etche LGA, while speaking with newsmen on Sunday, August 28, 2022, said to ensure this, all illegal road blocks along the roads in the area should be dismantled.

Decrying the uncontrollable and notorious activities of some faceless persons, who now parade themselves on the internal and local routes in Etche in the name of collecting money from oil bunkerers thereby robbing and kidnapping innocent road users in the area, Eze Dike regretted that such illegal road blocks mounted by unknown hoodlums provide opportunity for the kidnap and maiming of innocent commuters in the area.
.

The Youth Prime Minister disclosed that innocent road users are now robbed and kidnapped on a daily basis, stressing that it is worrisome that the Police and other security agencies have remained silent on such a serious issue.

He also called on the Rivers State Government to keep to her words by checkmating illegal oil bunkering in the State.

“It is very worrisome and disappointing that the security agents will be escorting illegal bunkering products in the state, what will now be the fate of the civilians.”

“You would recall that the Rivers State Government had in previous months declared fight on illegal oil bunkering in the state but the visible business between the security agents and the oil bunkers has remained unclear.”

The traditional ruler, however, pleaded with state and local government authorities to swing into action with a view to finding a lasting solution to the menace.
