An aspirant to the House of Representatives to represent the Degema/Bonny federal constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Inye Marshall Harry says he was focused on positively impacting and adding strategic value to the people he was seeking to represent than undermining any perceived political opponents.
Harry, who is the son of late Rivers and South-South political icon, Marshall Harry, came out with this position in response to a statement allegedly credited to a fellow aspirant to the same office, Fubara Kingsley Hart, alleging that he was maligned during a consultative meeting the former had with chieftains, delegates and other stakeholders of the party in Bonny Local Government Area, penultimate week.
In a statement by media office, Marshall-Harry said “We have kept our message simple and precise, our focus remains on empowerment and jobs creation for our people, curbing insecurity in our communities, vocal representation, proposing legislation to attract the presence of the Federal Government, etc. For us, these are the real issues we must address and that has remained the message we preach to party leaders and party faithful, hence we refuse to be distracted”.
The APC chieftain described Fubara Hart as “a respected party leader and an accomplished civil servant that has served our dear state meritoriously while in active service, saying that he will not “play into the antics of unprofessionals who were desirous of pulling others down in a quest to find favour from the respected Bonny titled citizen”.
The Degema born political heavyweight maintained that his inalienable right to aspire to any political office under the Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria cannot be contested and cannot be denied by anyone, stressing that he would rather consult wide across various stakeholder platforms and appeal to the goodwill of his would-be constituents and support of the electorates than “dwell on any primordial political permutation.
He affirmed his unflinching and unalloyed loyalty to the leadership of the Minister of Transportation and Director General of the Buhari Re-election Campaign, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
