Niger Delta rights activist and philanthropist, Sobomabo Jackrich, also known as ‘Egberipapa’, in conjunction with the Woman Leader of Bonny Kingdom, Helen Jack-Wilson Pepple have provided palliatives to some residents of Bonny Local Government Area in Rivers State.
This charitable gesture, which took place in Bonny on Friday, May 29, 2020, was an effort to further stem the excruciating effect of the ravaging coronavirus pandemic that was betiding the economic wellbeing of the residents of Bonny Island, was done under the aegis of the South-South Alliance (SSA).
The SSA is a socio-political pressure group focused on pursuing the interests of the people of the Niger Delta region.
In all, about 90 residents benefitted from the various palliative packages ranging from rice, beans and garri, among other packages.
Secretary of the SSA in Bonny LGA, Maxwell Green clarified that the compassionate gesture, which beneficiaries cut across the twelve wards in Bonny LGA, was intended to strengthen the hopes of the people amidst the current economic realities.
Sobomabo Jackrich was a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Akuku-Toru LGA while Helen Jack-Wilson Pepple was the first female Secretary to the Bonny Local Government Council.
Both individuals have over the years been focused on improving the livelihoods of the people of the South-South through various initiatives while also working to achieve peace in the once volatile Niger Delta region.
