As the countdown begins for the election into leadership positions in the Bonny Youths Federation (BYF) billed for Saturday, November 7, 2020, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the BYF, Tamuno-Opubo Wilcox-Buruwi has pledged to bequeath a legacy of integrity-based electoral process.
Wilcox-Buruwi, who said this in a telephone chat with Kristina Reports shortly after the schedule of the election process was released by his committee, noted that he and his committee members acknowledge the burden posterity has placed on them to get it right for Bonny Kingdom at a time like this.
So far, Kristina Reports can authoritatively report that only two contenders are currently vying for the position of Leader of the Bonny Youths Federation (BYF) namely, the Leader of the Bonny Kingdom Youth Leaders Forum, Emmanuel Finecountry, and the Governor of Captain Hart House Youths, Clarkson Hart.
The BYF Caretaker Committee, comprising the Chairman of Finima Youth Congress (FYC), Charles Brown, Founder/Executive Director of Adata Bristol Foundation (ABF), Adata Bristol, former Legal Adviser to the Bonny Local Government Council, Victor Pepple, and a former Special Assistant on Student Affairs to the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Boma Halliday, on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 released the schedule for the elections thus kick-starting the process.
In the schedule, Publication of Delegates List will take place on Monday, November 2, 2020, Purchase and Return of Nomination forms will take place between Monday, November 2, 2020, and Wednesday, November 4, 2020, while Screening of aspirants by the CTC will take place on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.
The Department of State Services (DSS), Bonny Division will play host to the aspirants on Thursday, November 4, 2020 as they go for profiling and clearance, while the aspirants will present their Manifestos on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the BYF Secretariat.
Election proper will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Ibanise Hall, Akiama, Bonny with Accreditation of Delegates starting from 8am to 10am, Voting from 11am to 1pm, and Declaration of Votes by 2.30pm same day.
The BYF CTC Chairman, who was a former Supervisor for Works in the Bonny Local Government Council, expressed optimism that the process would be free and fair, appealing for the cooperation of the aspirants, delegates and other relevant stakeholders to achieve an integrity based process that is acceptable to all concerned.
