Christian faithful have been called upon to respect ancient landmarks such as church buildings and other infrastructure that are erected to represent the glory of God in different dispensations of human existence.

Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Okrika, Rt. Rev. Enoch Atuboyedia made this call during the Foundation Laying Ceremony of the Diocesan Secretariat of the Okrika Diocese of the Anglican Communion at Okrika Grammar School, Okrika on Monday, September 27, 2021.

Delivering a homily at the ceremony, Rt. Rev. Atuboyedia, who took his Bible reading from Ezra 3:10-11, emphasized the importance of the ceremony, stating that a foundation is very crucial for every building and buildings wherein the worship of the Almighty God takes place should not only have strong foundations but also represent the foundation of faith for the Christian faithful.

He stated that the fathers of faith understood the concept of this practice of laying foundations for tabernacles and temples for the worship of God as the bedrock for real and sustainable edifices that will stand the test of time.

The revered cleric asserted that by December 17, 2021, the Anglican Diocese of Okrika will mark its 18 years anniversary, pointing out that a befitting edifice as such will glorify God, while commending his predecessors for 17 years of meticulous service, promising to continue with the ancient landmarks they have laid.

The Bishop encouraged everybody to support the work, stating that little beginnings should not be despised as they are the harbingers of great achievements, adding that the building will be dedicated within a space of two years.

Also speaking, an Evangelist, Graham George described the foundation laying ceremony of the new edifice as a welcome development, stressing that when completed the building will increase the fame of the diocese.
