Cancer-Stricken Cynthia Anijekwu Appeals for Lifesaving Support
Nollywood actress Cynthia Anijekwu has made an emotional appeal to Nigerians for financial assistance after revealing that she is battling cancer for the second time, with the disease now having spread to her bones.
Anijekwu’s plea gained widespread attention on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, after a video of the actress detailing her health challenges circulated on social media.

The actress disclosed that she was first diagnosed with cancer in 2023, underwent surgery and chemotherapy, and initially responded to treatment before the disease returned.
“I had cancer in 2023.”
“I did my surgery and took chemotherapy, but later it came back again.”
“I’ve been in and out of the hospital,” Anijekwu said.
She revealed that her condition has deteriorated after doctors informed her that the cancer had spread to her bones, significantly increasing the cost and complexity of treatment.
“The doctor recently told me it has reached my bones, and the treatment is now much more expensive,” she said.
According to Anijekwu, the illness has affected both of her breasts, while swelling in her hands has further compounded her health challenges.
She disclosed that doctors have recommended another surgery alongside radiation therapy as part of her treatment plan.
The actress said the cost of managing the illness has become overwhelming, explaining that she now requires approximately ₦600,000 every month for treatment.
Fighting back tears in the emotional video, Anijekwu pleaded with Nigerians to support her in whatever way they could.
“I need to live.”
“I need to survive.”
“I’m asking Nigerians to please help me,” she said.
She added that every contribution, no matter how small, could make a significant difference in helping her continue treatment.
“Your one naira, your two naira can add up to something reasonable for me to get the proper treatment for this cancer.”
“I’m begging you, please help me.”
Anijekwu also disclosed that the cancer has taken a severe physical toll on her.
“Even my hands are swollen.”
“The cancer has affected both breasts.”
“I need to live.”
“Please help me.”
“I need to survive.”
The actress, known for her roles in English and Igbo-language Nollywood productions, has received an outpouring of sympathy from colleagues, fans and members of the public since her appeal became public.
As donations began to pour in, reports indicated that more than ₦13 million had been raised to support her treatment.
However, supporters noted that fundraising efforts remain ongoing as the cost of her medical care continues to rise.
Anijekwu’s appeal has also reignited conversations about the financial burden of cancer treatment in Nigeria and the challenges many patients face in accessing life-saving healthcare, with many Nigerians calling for increased support for people battling life-threatening illnesses.
