As part of his drive to bequeath a legacy of developmental projects to his people, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike says the Rebisi Flyover will be commissioned next month by the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, SAN.
The Rebisi (Garrison) Flyover is expected to ease traffic on that axis of the state capital where traffic from Trans Amadi Industrial Area, Ogbumnu-Abali Computer Village and the Port Harcourt/Aba Expressway converge.
According to a statement by the Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, Kelvin Ebiri, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim announced this shortly after the State Executive Council Meeting today.
According to Nsirim, “Council decided that the Rebisi Flyover will be commissioned on the 7th November, 2020 by the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola (SAN).”
The State Chief Executive had months ago embarked on the construction of four flyovers at Garrison Junction, Rumuola Junction, Artillery Junction, and Rumuokoro Roundabout, promising to deliver them before the end of the year.
Despite the challenges posed by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, work has continued at the project sites as the contractor, Julius Berger Nigeria Ltd has sustained the tempo of work on the projects.
Kristina Reports checks at the four project sites indicate that with the tempo of work Governor Wike may yet deliver on his promise of completing the projects on record time.
The Garrison Junction area where the Rebisi Flyover is being constructed has remained a thriving business hub as it hosts the Ogbumnu-Abali Computer Village and Phone Repairs Complex with many of the business entities there displaced when the construction work began.
