There is palpable tension in Eleme Local Government Area as the Rivers State Government led by Governor Nyesom Wike declared the Youth Leader of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area wanted.
In a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, the State Government said the Eleme PDP Youth Leader, Princewill Osaroejiji is wanted for various criminal activities.
“Rivers State Government has declared the youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Eleme Local Government Area, Mr. Princewill Osaroejiji, wanted for various criminal activities.”
The Governor placed a N5 million bounty on his head for anyone who volunteers information to the law enforcement agencies that will lead to his arrest.
“A Five Million Naira reward will be given to anyone who will give law enforcement agencies useful information that will lead to his arrest.”
In another development, the State Government has declared that it will demolish two hotels in Eleme Local Government Area for violating the lockdown order of Governor Wike.
The affected hotels are Prudent Hotel, Alode, Eleme, and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne, which Nsirim’s statement stated that they are “to be demolished for flouting Government directive on the closure of hotels in the State.”
Wike has recently come under criticisms over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic with some residents of the state accusing him of being draconian and not applying the knowledge content in his pattern of fighting the pandemic.
A health professional in the state, who preferred anonymity, told Kristina Reports that “the lockdown has so far proved a futile effort as people still being witnessed entering the State due to poor border management”.
An official of the State Government, who preferred to be named as he was a civil servant, however, praised the Governor’s efforts, saying that, “who knows the number of infected persons would have gone up but for the governor’s strict handling of the fight against the pandemic.”
