President Muhammadu Buhari has just been sworn in to office for a second term of four years at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

He becomes the second Nigerian president after Olusegun Obasanjo to be so sworn in since the beginning of the current democratic dispensation which began on May 29, 1999

The oath of allegiance to the federal republic of Nigeria and the oath of office of President, federal republic of Nigeria were administered to him by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad.

The President was accompanied by his wife, First Lady, Aisha Buhari, as he took the oath of office for a second term.

Earlier, his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who was also accompanied by his wife, Dolapo, was also sworn in to office for another four year term as Vice President.

Nigerians generally are expectant that the ‘Next Level’ mantra of President Buhari’s campaign in the run-up to the 2019 presidential elections would be realised.

Particularly, of interest to Nigerians will be a speedy halt of the spate of insecurity across the country, and revamping of the economy to impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians who were to recover fully from the effects of the 2016 economic recession the nation witnessed.

An indication that his second tenure would be better was the President’s statement days ago that he would be rather swift in taking actions to address issues in the polity.
