EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE AMANYANABO-IN-COUNCIL AND TITTLE CITIZENS’ OF BONNY KINGDOM ON MONDAY 25TH FEBRUARY, 2019 AT THE KING PEREKULE PALACE, BONNY.

              A COMMUNIQUE

An emergency meeting of the Amanyanbo-In-Council withTittle Citizens of Bonny Kingdom at the instance of His Majesty King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, Perekule XI, Natural Ruler and Amanyanabo of Bonny was summoned to address the circumstances that led to the disenfranchisement of the people of Bonny Local Government Area in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections that took place on Saturday 23rd February.

A.   Following exhaustive deliberations by the stakeholders at the meeting, it was explicitly resolved that:

1. The postponement of the said election in Bonny was orchestrated by the stalling of the electoral process by All Progressive Congress (APC) Bonny Leadership on the claim that the materials and Electoral Officer for the L.G.A has been compromised.

2.  Despite the fact the elections did not take place in Bonny, there were no disturbance or security breaches throughout Bonny Kingdom except at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Office in Bonny.

3. In spite of their aparent disenfranchisement which is extremely provocative, citizens and residents of Bonny remained calm and peaceful contrary to unfounded and misleading reports in the social media.

4. That the attitude of the security personnel specially deployed to INEC office in Bonny and other locations within the Local Government compounded the situation and created unnecessary tension and fear in the Local Government.

B  In the light of the above, the Amanyanabo-In-Council and Tittle Citizens took the following decisions:

1.  Commends His Majesty King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, Perekule XI, Natural Ruler and Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, for his prompt reaction in summoning this all important meeting.

2.  To invite all principal actors of all political parties in Bonny immediately for an urgent meeting with the Amanyanabo-In-Council and Tittle Citizens on the need for continous peaceful election in Bonny Local Government,  as always.

3.  To raise the comcerns of Bonny people to the appropriate Military and Police authorities through the Chief Securty Officer of Rivers State His Excellency Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike, CON, DGSSRS, on the need to caution their men specially deployed to Bonny for election duties to act professionally and in a non-partisan manner.

4.  That all sons, daughters and residents of Bonny are encouraged to remain law abiding and be ready to vote any time the Presidential and National Assembly Elections are rescheduled for Bonny Local Government Area as well as for the Governorship and State Assembly Elections scheduled for 9th March, 2019.

5.  The parents and guardians in Bonny Kingdom should caution their childred and wards to be of good behavior in their conduct now and always and not to allow themselves to be used for actions inimical to the interest of Bonny Kingdom.

C  the meeting notes that the unfortunate incident at INEC office Bonny on the 23rd Ferbruary is not in tandem with the tested character of Bonny people. We are known to be peaceful in all our dealings and we the Bonny people will not tolerate to be tainted by the behavior of some unscrupulous and self-seeking politician.
