A mammoth crowd comprising indigenes and residents of Bonny Local Government Area in Rivers State converged at the Queen Kambassa Square to have passed a vote of confidence on Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo, assuring them of their support.
The people equally endorsed the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the LGA, Anengi Claude-Wilcox as the sole candidate for the forthcoming local government elections billed for October 2024.
These endorsements were contained in a communique issued on Sunday, August 11, 2024 after a mass meeting of the SIMplified Movement in Bonny, Rivers State, which decribed the Governor, Speaker, and CTC Chairman of Bonny LGA “as people-driven leaders who should always be assured of the solidarity of Bonny constituents”.
The occasion saw the inauguration of the Executive Council of the SIMplified Movement in Bonny LGA with former CTC Chairmen of Bonny LGA, Adonye Dappa-Wilcox, and Isobonye Tobin, and a former Leader of the Bonny Legislative Assembly, Ene Longjohn, as Coordinator, Secretary, and Organising Secretary, respectively.
Speaking at the event, which held at the Queen Kambassa Square, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo, was represented by a former member of the State Assembly, Christian Ahiakwo said Bonny was well positioned in the hierarchy of the State Government.
He pointed out that this was the best time to throw in the full support of the LGA, while assuring the people of the area of the dividends of democracy for Bonny LGA.
In her remark, the CTC Chairman of Bonny LGA, who was represented by a one-time LGA chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Blessing Ezekiel-Hart commended the mass participation of the people numbering over a thousand persons.
She urged them to redouble their efforts in making the SIMplified family stronger, promising better days ahead as the Governor, Speaker and herself were very intentional about improving the lives of the people and changing the narrative of govervance.
In attendance at the event, which had over three thousand indigenes and residents of Bonny LGA participating, were a former House of Representatives member; Randolph Brown, Chief and Head of Christy-Wilcox House, Se-Alabo Golden Christy-Wilcox, former CTC Chairmen; Clinton Tolofari, Adonye Wilcox, and Dr Simon Hart, former Vice Chairman, Omoni Longjohn, former Leader of Bonny Legislative Assembly; Larry Ibaningo, and Woman Leader of Bonny Kingdom; Helen Jack-Wilson Pepple, amongst others.
