Bonny Goes Agog For Youth Festival of Life

Against the backdrop of eroding societal values, diminishing education standards and harsh economic realities, the 2019 edition of the Youth Festival of Life is here with a big bang as a veritable platform for youths to prepare for life’s challenges and equip themselves for future excellence.

 

The annual event which is regarded as the biggest educational and innovative festival in Bonny Island is organized by the Youth Resource Centre (YRC), Bonny will take place between 10-11th May, 2019 at the Ibanise Hall, Akiama, Bonny.  

Already there is palpable frenzy and excitement across Bonny Local Government Area as the Youth Leadership Masterclass, a prelude to the festival, kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Youth Resource Centre, along King Jaja Street, Bonny.

 

According to the Manager of the Youth Resource Centre, Bonny, Babayo Bitrus, over 1,500 students drawn from 18 schools across the LGA alongside over 300 visitors representing various strata of society are expected at the 2019 Youth Festival of Life.  

 

Bitrus told Kristina Reports that festival will feature drama, choir presentations, cultural displays, choral exhibitions, spoken word poetry, art and craft exhibition, and science exhibition, among other varieties.  

 

In his words: “The Youth Festival of Life is powered by the Youth Resource Centre Bonny, a non-profit and non-governmental organization set up to provide educational and career counselling services for free in Bonny.”

 

“The concept of the Youth Festival of Life is to provide a platform for our students to showcase their potentials through their various schools, celebrate their educational development and impact of the school on them over the years, and also participate in joint activities with their peers from other schools in cultural displays, drama, choral, spoken word, art and craft, and science Innovation”.

Interestingly, previous editions of the festival has seen potentials been discovered just as the YRC has set up a Science Club for students in the sciences while those in the arts have an art gallery set up for exhibition of their art works.
