A social media enthusiast with the name @Adaoha recently posted on her wall why the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi remains the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his home state and the South-South, as a whole. Read below: The Constitution of the APC makes it very clear that leadership at any level is based on hierarchy as stipulated in relevant sections yet to be amended. 1. Article 12, Section 1, subsection i and iv qualifies him above everyone else in APC Rivers State to be a member of the National Convention. As a Member of the Board of Trustees and as a past Governor. 2. Article 12, Subsection 2, subsection iv qualifies him to be a Member of the Board of Trustees, as a past Governor of Rivers State under the APC. 3. Article 12, section 3, subsection xxxv qualifies him to be a member of the National Executive Committee, NEC- An Ex- Officio member representing the South South Geopolitical zone. 4. Article 12, Section 5, subsection vi as a past Governor within the South South zone qualifies him to be at the Zonal Committee. 5. Article 12, Section 6, subsection i in order of hierarchy as a member of the Board of Trustees, puts him ahead of every other person in the RIVERS STATE CONGRESS. Unfortunately, many are in APC but still buoyed by the PDP Constitution where it is assumed that the highest elected officer of the party is the leader of the party in the State. Contrary to claims in some quarters, only two Senators from each of the geopolitical zone of the Country are members of the National Executive Committee of the APC. The only Rivers slot in the South-South is represented by Senator Andrew I. Uchendu.
