Adangor Lied on Directive from Governor – RSU

The Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt has repudiated claims by a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the State, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN that Governor Siminalayi Fubara not to accept him back into the institution.

In a statement made available to the Media on Friday, May 10, 2024 in Port Harcourt, acting Registrar of the institution, Ibimonia Harry, stated that there was no such directive from the Governor.

She also disclosed that Prof. Adangor had also not applied to return to the institution after his resignation, informing that he applied for leave of absence to serve as chief law officer of the State.

“The attention of the Management of the Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, has been drawn to an interview by Channels Television on Thursday 9th May, 2024, circulating on the social media wherein the former Rivers State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor SAN, alleged that the Governor of Rivers State has directed Management of the University not to accept him back to the University from his Leave of Absence.”

“This is therefore a DISCLAIMER announcement and to inform the General public that Prof. Adangor applied for Leave of Absence to enable him serve in the Rivers State Executive Council and that since after his resignation as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, he is yet to apply to the University for resumption of duty.”

“We wish to state categorically that there has not been any directive by His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, to the University Management not to accept Prof Adangor back to his duties as claimed in the said interview.” 

“The general public is advised to ignore such claim in its entirety.”

Prof. Adangor is one of the Commissioners who returned to the State Executive Council after resigning their position in face of the political crisis in the State but had to resign again, citing disagreements with the Governor.
