Residents of Abuja have sung the praises of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nyesom Wike, following his giant strides in rejuvenating and revitalizing the Abuja road network.
In the last administration, numerous road construction projects within the city commenced but were never completed causing worry and doubts in the minds of residents as to if the projects will ever be completed.
However, less than a year after his inauguration, Wike, who is a former Governor of Rivers State, has cleared their doubts.
In an interview with Kristina Reports, a resident of Abuja, Pius Benson expressed his happiness with the recent development, stating that he has been living in Abuja for well over 14 years and has not witnessed this level of speedy development and prayed for continuity.
“I have lived in Apo for about 10 years but I have been Abuja for almost 15 years and he has done so well. Look at this road that leads to Asokoro, it has been under construction for years now but not long after Wike came into power, it is now a seamless process going from Apo to Asokoro.”
“I want to use this opportunity to also say that please the honourable minister should also look at this Apo Road. I have heard that something is going to be done about it but please it should be done fast.
“There is always traffic here, it is worse on my way to work and on my way back. Please the road should be expanded as soon as possible to avoid more accidents.”
Francis Akpaniko said he is happy about it as the constructions have as it has linked the roads better and have made commuting easier. For him, he is more excited about getting to his destination in less time than it took him in the past.
“I have lived in Guzape since 2019, and this bridge that links Guzape to Garki has been under construction for the longest time and as a result, a fifteen-minute trip became a thirty-minute trip. But now, the bridge has been opened so my journeys will be shorter. I am very, very happy about this.”
Ibrahim Ingawa said “Abuja is changing in a lot of ways, a lot of areas have been developed, from Wuye to Guzape to Katampe. Particularly the Wuye bridge, it has made so many people happy and so many other roads too. Well done to our minister.”
“The FCT Minister had at the beginning of his tenure announced his plan to rehabilitate 135 roads and bridges in Abuja in Garki, Wuse, Gwarimpa and Maitama districts and, so far, he seems to be keeping to his word.”
