5000 Bonny Youths For Sufficient Grace Flags Off Phase Two Campaign, Targets 20,000 Votes

The 5000 Bonny Youths For Sufficient Grace, a youth political support group in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, has commenced the second phase of its mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group announced this on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 via a statement co-signed by its Chairman, Secretary and Publicity Secretary, Jumbo Abalafagha, Peter Abbey, and Telema Stowe, respectively, and made available to journalists in Bonny, Rivers.

It said it was transitioning from voter sensitisation to an aggressive grassroots mobilisation drive aimed at delivering 20,000 votes for its preferred candidates.

The commencement of the campaign coincides with the date announced for the official flag-off of governorship and House of Assembly campaigns by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Jumbo said the group’s 20,000-vote target was designed to set a new electoral benchmark for Bonny LGA.

“We have moved from sensitization to action. Our mandate is clear: to deliver victory for all Renewed Hope candidates and to ensure that Bonny LGA sets a new record in voter turnout and support,” he said.

The group declared its support for President Bola Tinubu, who is seeking a second term under the Renewed Hope platform.

It said it is also supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Rivers State; Kingsley Chinda, Rivers West Senatorial District candidate; Felix Obuah, House of Representatives candidate for Bonny/Degema Federal Constituency; Cyril Hart, and House of Assembly candidate for Bonny State Constituency; Soparagha Jumbo.

As part of its grassroots strategy, the group also announced the “12 Wards of Sufficient Grace Tour”, to be led by its House of Assembly candidate, Soparagha Jumbo.

According to the statement, the ward-to-ward tour will be complemented by market storms, door-to-door mobilisation, community engagement and community service initiatives, with the objective of taking the campaign directly to voters across Bonny’s communities.

The group said the activities would provide an avenue for its members to interact directly with residents, mobilise support and communicate the policies and programmes of the candidates it supports.

The Chairman urged members and supporters to remain committed to the group’s objectives and warned them against relying on rumours or information not issued through the group’s recognised channels.

He said further directives and the comprehensive campaign timetable would be communicated through the various Ward Coordinators and the group’s official platforms.

With the group now targeting 20,000 votes, the coming months are expected to test its organisational capacity, particularly its ability to translate its extensive grassroots mobilisation plans into actual voter turnout and electoral support on polling day.
