Kelechi Iheanacho scores twice again as Bursaspor complete dramatic comeback and climb top
Kelechi Iheanacho is playing like a man possessed, rapidly transforming into Bursaspor’s ultimate goal-scoring machine after striking twice to spark a thrilling comeback victory over Manisa FK on Monday evening.
With the Green Crocodiles trailing early, the Super Eagles striker netted a brilliant equaliser before snatching a dramatic late winner to secure a 2-1 victory in their Turkish 1. Lig round-six clash at the Manisa 19 Mayis Stadyumu.
The heroic performance pushed the Nigerian star’s tally to eight goals and two assists for the season, bringing his total goal contribution to ten.
Continuing his blistering form following a brace against İstanbulspor, Iheanacho has now found the back of the net in six consecutive league matches.
Cheikne Sylla initially put the hosts ahead just 20 minutes into the match, capitalizing on an error by Bursaspor goalkeeper Kerem Matışlı.
However, Iheanacho restored parity just seven minutes later. Picking up the ball from Zeki Yavru outside the right edge of the penalty area, he dangerously drove past four defenders before drilling a low, unstoppable shot beyond the keeper’s reach.
Instead of celebrating his brilliant solo effort, the 29-year-old forward sprinted straight to Matışlı, offering his keeper an inspiring support.
The second half delivered end-to-end intensity as both sides traded blows in search of a decisive blow.
Just as the match seemed destined for a draw, Iheanacho struck at the death, banging in his second goal to seal the comeback and catapult the Green Crocodiles to the top of the league table.
