Ensure Our People Are Gainfully Employed – LG Chairman charges new BIRC Mgt

The new Management Committee and Employment Monitoring Team of the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC) led by Dagogo ‘Opumingi’ Jumbo and Tamuno Dan-Jumbo have been charged to ensure that jobs and business opportunities were available to the people of Bonny Local Government Area.

The charge was given by the Chairman of Bonny LGA, David Irimagha when he inaugurated them today at the Local Government Council Secretariat, Bonny.

At the brief ceremony, attended by former Caretaker Committee Chairmen of Bonny LGA, Charles Jumbo and Isobonye Tobin, Vice Chairman, Anengi Barasua, Secretary to Council, Omoni Longjohn, and Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Uriel John-Jumbo, among others, Irimagha warned against non-performance and corrupt practices, stressing that such would signal their sack without prior notice.

The Chief Magistrate of Bonny Division of the Rivers State Judiciary, O’Harry Ayearite administered the oath of office and oath of allegiance to the new BIRC Management Committee and Employment Monitoring Team members.

He pointed out to them that the massive turnout of people to witness their inauguration underscored the interest of the people in what happens at the BIRC and the changing face of the administrative direction there.

“It is obvious that the game has changed. If you look at the mammoth crowd that has turned out to witness this, it shows that the level of acceptance and it also shows that the game has changed”.

“But I must that non-performance or lack of performance will result in your withdrawal without notice. We have to get it right. We have to do the right so that we will have good results.”

He implored them to work together for the common goal of ensuring that there were jobs for Bonny people, saying that he was deliberate about allowing the BIRC to function independently based on his conviction that it needed the leverage to achieve set objectives and deliver on its mandate.

“You all should work together to ensure that you deliver. When you work well and ensure the right thing is done and your people are empowered with jobs you will get the benefits. I’m sacrificing to ensure that the dignity of Bonny Local Government is preserved. Don’t fraternize with companies against interest of Bonny”.

Irimagha expressed optimism that the two inaugurated bodies will deliver on their assigned tasks, noting that the people were in support of their emergence and equally expectant that their yearnings in terms of job opportunities will be satisfied.

Responding, the new Chairman of the Management Committee of the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC), Dagogo ‘Opuminigi’ Jumbo expressed appreciation to the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Dr Edward Pepple III, CON, and the Chairman of Bonny LGA, David Irimagha for the confidence reposed in them to hold such exalted office and onerous responsibility of behalf of Bonny Kingdom.  

Jumbo assured the Bonny LG Chairman and all other relevant stakeholders that every opportunity will be utilized to unite Bonny people.
