Gov Fubara to Commission 11 Landmark Projects Across Rivers
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is set to commission 11 major infrastructure projects across the state between August 17 and August 28, 2026, as part of his administration’s efforts to accelerate development and improve public services.
The projects, located in various local government areas, cover key sectors including road construction, bridges, healthcare, education and other essential infrastructure. They are expected to support economic activities and improve the living conditions of residents.
Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dagogo Wokoma disclosed the commissioning schedule during a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Friday August 14, 2026. He said the projects demonstrated the administration’s commitment to taking development to communities across the state.
According to Wokoma, the exercise will begin on August 17 with the commissioning of the Buguma-Degema-Abonnema Road, which connects communities in Asari-Toru, Degema and Akuku-Toru Local Government Areas.
The Egwi-Afara-Mba Road in Etche LGA will follow on August 18, while the Capt. Elechi Amadi Polytechnic Entrepreneurship Centre and Engineering Faculty Building in Rumuola, Obio/Akpor LGA, will be commissioned on August 19.
On August 20, the Governor will inaugurate the Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Dual Carriageway, which passes through Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGAs. This will be followed by the commissioning of the New Zonal Hospital in Omoku on August 21.
After a two-day break on August 22 and 23, activities will continue on August 24 with the commissioning of the Omademe Internal Roads in Ikwerre LGA.
The New Air Force Base Runway in Port Harcourt is scheduled for commissioning on August 25, while the Agba-Ndele Road and Bridge in Emohua LGA will be inaugurated on August 26.
On August 27, two major health facilities—the New Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital and the New General Hospital, both in Rumuigbo, Obio/Akpor LGA—will be commissioned.
The exercise will end on August 28 with the inauguration of the Bonny National Grammar School in Bonny Local Government Area.
The SSG said the projects underscore Governor Fubara’s commitment to ensuring that public investments produce tangible benefits for the people of Rivers State.
He added that the administration would continue to pursue development across all 23 local government areas through targeted investments in critical infrastructure.
Wokoma also acknowledged the contributions of government officials, contractors, host communities and other stakeholders toward the completion of the projects.
He called on residents to take part in the commissioning ceremonies and continue to support efforts aimed at promoting peace, sustainable development and prosperity across Rivers State.
