Samuel Kalu, Chidera Okoh Hit the Net as Botev Plovdiv Wins Big in Pre-Season Friendly

Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu quickly showed his club, Botev Plovdiv, that they made the right choice by giving him a new long-term contract.

Just days after signing the deal, Kalu scored a goal to help his team win 4-0 against Beroe in a warm-up match before the new season starts.

Kalu recently agreed to stay with the club until June 2029, even though other teams in Switzerland wanted to sign him.

He scored in the 59th minute of the game, proving that the club’s trust in him was well-deserved.

Botev Plovdiv took an early lead when Bryan-Anthony Chibuike Hein scored in the 14th minute. Shortly after halftime, Dimitar Tonev scored the second goal.

Only two minutes later, Kalu scored to make it 3-0, making it almost impossible for Beroe to make a comeback.

This goal was the perfect way for the 28-year-old winger to thank the club for his new contract.

Three Nigerian Players Shine for Botev

Kalu was not the only Nigerian player who played well in the match:

Chidera Okoh scored the final goal in the 82nd minute, marking his very first goal for the club since moving from Greece this summer.

The great performances from Kalu, Hein, and Okoh show that these Nigerian players are ready to play a big role for Botev Plovdiv in the upcoming 2026/27 season.

This easy 4-0 win gives the team a lot of confidence as they prepare for the league matches ahead.
