Champions Beyond Limits FA Start Gothia Cup 2026 with Scoreless Draw
The defending champions, Beyond Limits FA, started their 2026 Gothia Cup journey in Sweden with a 0-0 draw against AD Cantolao from Peru.
The Nigerian youth team played really well and controlled most of the game, but they just couldn’t score a goal.
Missed Chances in the First Half
Beyond Limits had the best chances to score before halftime. Striker Memud Olamilekan came very close twice.
First, he missed the target with a header, and shortly after, another one of his headers hit the post.
Even though the Nigerian team kept pushing and controlling the ball, the first 30-minute half ended without any goals.
A Tough Fight to the Finish for Beyond Limits
The team kept attacking in the second half. Precious Olaniyo made a great run down the right side and passed to Abdulazeez Ali, but the play was stopped for offside.
Olaniyo later tried to score himself with a powerful shot, but the Cantolao goalkeeper made a great save.
The goalkeeper made another big save near the end of the match to keep the score at 0-0.
Even though they didn’t win, the young Ikenne-based team can feel good about how well they played.
Last year, they won the trophy by beating ASEC Mimosas in a dramatic penalty shootout, and they will look to get their first win in their next match.
