Insecurity: Christian Council of Nigeria Sets June 14 As Black Sunday, Calls For National Prayer
As the spate of insecurity continues to exacerbate, the Christian Council of Nigeria, CCN has directed that Sunday, June 14, 2026 will be a day for prayer, tagging it as ‘Black Sunday’
This directive was conveyed via a statement issued by the association, that the day has been set aside to pray for the restoration of peace, security and safety in nigeria.

The council further instructs that all worshippers are to appear in black apparel as a symbolic expression of grief and concern over the rising spate of insecurity, senseless killings and loss of lives across the nation.
Christian faithful are further enjoined to pray for God’s intervention in the nation’s affairs and a peaceful, credible, free and fair elections in the year 2027.
The organisation directed that all churches should take a special collection in support of the Christian Council of Nigeria, and proceeds should be sent to the different dioceses, which will be remitted to the council for support.
