Rivers South-East Stakeholders Demand Guber Slot, Declare Support for Tinubu’s Re-Election
Political stakeholders from the Ogoni and Oyigbo axis of Rivers State have called for the next governor of the state to emerge from the Ogoni/Oyigbo extraction, citing fairness, equity and political inclusion.
The demand formed part of resolutions reached during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday, May 22, 2026, in Tai Local Government Area under the platform of the Ogoni & Oyigbo People’s Assembly.

The gathering brought together political leaders and stakeholders from Khana, Gokana, Eleme, Tai and Oyigbo local government areas to deliberate on emerging political developments in the state and concerns surrounding the future of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the Assembly reaffirmed its total support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration, while also appreciating the President for appointing Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

The stakeholders further commended Wike for what they described as his contributions toward peace, unity and political stability in Rivers State.
However, the Assembly expressed disappointment over what it termed poor political reciprocity despite the support allegedly given by the Ogoni/Oyigbo bloc in the emergence of the current political leadership in the state.

The stakeholders maintained that the Ogoni/Oyigbo axis remains one of the strongest voting blocs in Rivers State and insisted that the area possesses competent sons and daughters capable of governing the state effectively.
The meeting comes amid growing political discussions following recent developments surrounding Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the emergence of Kingsley Chinda as the governorship flag bearer of the APC.

Prominent political figures present at the meeting included Magnus Abe, Felix Nwaeke, and Victor Giadom, among others.
The Assembly stressed that justice, inclusion and fairness remain essential for sustainable peace and democratic stability in Rivers State.
