Nigerian youngsters Daniel Job and Clinton Jephta continue ruthless rise across Europe
Nigerian youngsters Daniel Job and Clinton Jephta continued their impressive rise in Scandinavian football on Wednesday night after both players delivered influential performances for their clubs in Norway and Finland.
Daniel Job played a key role in Kongsvinger’s entertaining 4-2 victory over Odd in the Norwegian OBOS-ligaen, while Clinton Jephta inspired FC Inter Turku to a commanding 3-1 away win over Ilves in the Finnish Veikkausliiga.
Daniel Job continues brilliant form for Kongsvinger
Daniel Job once again showed why he has become one of Kongsvinger’s most important attacking players this season.
The 20-year-old Nigerian forward provided the assist for his side’s fourth goal as Kongsvinger secured another important home victory at the Gjemselund Stadion.
With the game finely balanced late in the second half, Job combined brilliantly with Herman Udnæs before the latter finished calmly in the 88th minute to seal the win for the league leaders.
The assist marked Job’s second of the season to go with his five league goals in eight appearances.
The former Nigerian youth international has now contributed directly to goals in seven of Kongsvinger’s eight league matches this campaign.
Job also registered an assist in his previous outing when Kongsvinger defeated Lyn 3-0, meaning he has now produced goal contributions in consecutive matches.
After falling behind to Jacob Buus’ first-half opener, Kongsvinger responded strongly through Frederik Christensen before second-half goals from Rasmus Christiansen and Ludvig Langrekken turned the game around.
Odd briefly threatened a comeback after Hinrik Hardarson reduced the deficit, but Job’s late involvement ensured the home side maintained their unbeaten start to the season.
Kongsvinger remain top of the OBOS-ligaen table with 20 points and will next face Stabaek away from home.
Jephta drives Inter Turku title charge in Finland
Clinton Jephta also enjoyed another productive evening as Inter Turku strengthened their position at the top of the Finnish Veikkausliiga standings.

The Nigerian midfielder created the opening goal in Inter Turku’s impressive 3-1 victory over Ilves at the Tammela Stadium.
Jephta’s assist came just two minutes into the contest when Julius Tauriainen fired the visitors ahead early in the game.
Although Ilves responded through Abdoul Bamba, Tauriainen restored Inter Turku’s advantage before the break with his second goal of the night.
Jasse Tuominen later converted from the penalty spot to complete the victory and secure all three points for the visitors.
Jephta’s latest contribution means the 19-year-old has now recorded six goal involvements this season, with three goals and three assists in only six league appearances.
The former NPFL midfielder has been one of Inter Turku’s standout performers in recent weeks, registering five goal contributions across his last four matches.
Despite being substituted in the second half for Antoine Essomba, Jephta had already made a decisive impact as Inter Turku moved four points clear at the top of the table.
Both Daniel Job and Clinton Jephta are enjoying breakout campaigns in Scandinavia, with their growing influence continuing to attract attention as two of Nigeria’s brightest young football exports.
