Nigerian Navy Holds Educational Outreach in Burukiri Community

As part of activities marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary celebration, the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny will hold an educational outreach programme at Community Secondary School, Burukiri Community in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

An official announcement by the FOB Bonny on Monday, May 18, 2026, disclosed that the programme is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the school premises by 10am.

The initiative, organised in commemoration of “Nigerian Navy @ 70 – Seven Decades of Excellence,” is aimed at strengthening community relations while promoting educational development and awareness among students in Bonny LGA.

The event is being held under the leadership of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas, and is expected to feature engagement sessions, educational support activities, and interactions with students and members of the host community.

Residents, stakeholders, teachers, students, and community leaders are expected to participate in the outreach programme, which reflects the Navy’s continued commitment to community service, youth development, and civil-military cooperation.

The Nigerian Navy has continued to carry out several humanitarian and community-based initiatives across the country as part of its non-combat contributions to national development.

Recall that as part of its non-kinetic approach to the actualization of Operation Delta Sanity, the FOB Bonny had in 2024 adopted Community Secondary School, Burukiri as its focal point for education related corporate social responsibility (CSR).

In the past two years, the FOB Bonny has remained consistent in fulfilling its pledge of providing the school with basic amenities and infrastructure which the school previously lacked.
