Panic in Omoku as Unknown Gunmen Attack OSPAC Headquarters
Tension gripped residents of Omoku, the headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Saturday night following an attack on the office of the local security outfit, OSPAC, by suspected hoodlums.
The incident, which occurred at about 8:55 p.m. on Saturday May 9, 2026, sent shockwaves across the community as sporadic gunshots rang out around the OSPAC facility, forcing residents to scamper for safety.

Speaking on the development, the General Commander of OSPAC, Emeka Onyeocha, said the attackers arrived in a jeep and opened fire in an apparent attempt to intimidate both residents and security operatives on duty.
He noted that OSPAC personnel swiftly responded to the situation, engaging the assailants in a gun duel.
” Yesterday’s night, my boys on station guard called me and told me that a jeep just drove into the area and started shooting and people were scared. The response team responded immediately and they fled but we met some shots on our neighbours’ windows, even on our gates”
Onyeocha, however, dismissed reports of casualties during the incident, stating that no lives were lost in the exchange. He also urged members of the public to disregard videos circulating on social media alleging fatalities, insisting that such footage did not originate from Omoku.
“There were no casualties, no death, but I’m surprised and I don’t know where they got those pictures and videos circulating on the social media to mislead the public.
So I am using this medium to ask the general public to disregard those videos, they did not come from Omoku”.
Onyeocha called on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attack and ensure the continued safety of residents in the area. He also urged residents of Omoku to remain vigilant and cooperative in order to ensure the security and safety of lives in properties in the area.
“Our people should wake up and remember that security is for all, we cannot forget what happened in 2014/2015 and from the look of things, these people want the community to run again but having the OSPAC, the Police and the Nigerian Army, we are there to deter them, we will not allow that, whether they like it or not”
